Choose one of the following essay topics and write an extended response of at least 300 words. Please type in 12pt font and double space. DUE: 6/4

1) Juliet’s nurse and Friar Lawrence are both confidants of the protagonists. Compare/contrast these characters and discuss to what extent each is responsible for the tragedy.

2) Is Romeo & Juliet about the irrationality of teenagers or the foolishness of adults? Explain your ideas with specific examples from both the teenagers actions and/or adults actions.

3) Select one character that changes throughout the play. What forces cause or motivate that character to change? Include events, attitudes of those around him/her, actions, and of course the persona of him/herself. What is the ultimate result of this change?
