I find Lenny the most interesting character in "of Mice and Men", he's a tall giant, slow in the head, child like and is completely obedient towards George. Lenny always listens to George because George is a good friend, but more then that because Lenny needs help and George can help Lenny work without being sent away to the cuko asylum. Fascinating right?
Lenny can't take care of himself because his mother, Aunt Clara died. That isn't the main reason though, he is simple minded and has does whatever George does and when I mean whatever I mean it. George use to pick on poor Lenny by telling him to jump in the river but the sad thing is that George does not even know how to swim and he can't think for himself. After that incident, George treats Lenny in a better way by be nicer to him and never asking Lenny to do anything that stupid ever again.
Lenny is a good person but he almost always talks about petting animals. It’s weird that a fully grown man carries a rat with him. After you learn about his simple mindedness it all makes sense. In conclusion Lenny Is a very fascinating because of his personality.
I think John Steinbeck portrayed Lennie very well. The reader really understands the character of him. When we first started reading the novel we knew that there was something not quiet right with Lennie. Although Steinbeck doesn’t flat out say that he is retarded we learn through George that he isn’t the brightest fellow. I think the author did a great job to show the reader what his problem was during the first scene of the novel, when Lennie was petting the dead mouse. It is very obvious that George does not trust Lennie with anything. When they were traveling to their new job they stopped at a place right outside the town. George stressed to Lennie that if he were to get into trouble he should go to that place and hide in the brush. George told him many times so it would get into George’s head and he would remember it. He makes sure that he remembers because later in the chapters, we learn that while in Weed, Lennie got in trouble be he saw a red dress he liked and touched it and pulled it. The girl thought he was raping her so she told on him to the authorities and George had to run away with Lennie before the people in the town lynched him. I predict that Lennie will get into more trouble in the new place where he is working and he will test him self if to see if he will remember where to go if he is in trouble.
Out of all the characters so far, I find Lenny the most interesting one. He is a mystery to us. We can’t see the real him because he is controlled by George. In Chapter 4, Crooks talks to Lenny about how he would survive without George. Lenny is this big and tall character that hang’s out with George. “Behind him walked his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders.” So far, we’ve learned that Lenny is child-like. He feels safe around soft objects. He also gets into trouble, such as when he was in weed and wouldn’t let go of a ladies skirt. He is very friendly too. Everyone in his bunkhouse doesn’t like Crook and doesn’t hang out with him because he was black. Lenny doesn’t mind him being black and hangs out with him. Lenny is also considered a follower, not a leader because he only does what George does. George is Lenny’s mouth, ears, feet and arms. George is also considered his brain. “Gearge lay back on the sand and crossed his hands over his head, and Lennie imitated him, raising his head to see whether he were doing it right.”
Thus far out of all of the characters that John Steinbeck has revealed, I think that Lennie is the most interesting. What makes him interesting is that he is so tall, so muscular, he is all around a big guy but since he has a disease that makes him slow he acts so childish. I think that it is funny that someone so big is so childish. Another thing that makes Lennie interesting is that he only remembers what he wants to remember. When they were just getting to the barn in Soledad he was told not to talk but he forgot, but when George tells him that if he gets in trouble he will not be allowed to tend to the rabbits, and since he wants to tend to the rabbits very badly he always remembers this. Also another thing that George tells Lennie to do that he forgets is that he was not allowed to tell anyone about the rabbits or the alfalfa patch or anything about the ranch that the want to buy but he forgets and tells crooks all about the place and how he cant get in trouble. Another reason that Lennie is interesting is because in some ways he is thought to be a mystery. He is a mystery because we don’t know why he has mental disabilities. We don’t know if he was born this way or if he was in some sort of accident that made him this way. He is also a mystery because he does whatever George tells him to do, he says whatever George tells him to say and he even keeps quiet when George tells him to. We don’t know what Lennie is really like except that he has a disability and he is childish. He is also interesting because he always seems to get into trouble wherever he goes and since this always happens I think this is foreshadowing that he is going to get into trouble with Curleys wife and him, and George are going to have to flee Soledad, but I think that Candy is going to stay and work on the farm to help them earn enough money for the new farm and all the animals. I think that George and Lennie are going to flee Soledad to a place that is close to the land they want to buy and after Candy earns his $100 that is coming to him soon, and they will then buy the land.
In the novel “Of Mice and Men”, the author John Steinbeck describes Lennie very vividly. Starting when he is first introduced, Lennie is portrayed as a very large and strong man metaphorically compared to a bear. After seeing him in action, it comes to the readers mind that Lennie is also mentally challenged because he is very forgetful, and does some random things. Lennie has a partner called George, who is smaller but a lot more intelligent. George looks after Lennie as they travel searching for work because Lennie would not be in good shape traveling by himself. When Lennie is petting a dead mouse it is clearly obvious that Lennie is not completely normal, or when Lennie wanted to pet a girls dress just because it looked pretty, but ends up getting charged with rape and having to run from the law. If George was not there with Lennie at that time it would have been a lot different for him. What is interesting about Lennie is thinking if he becomes more intelligent and down to earth throughout the novel, and how would he act without George always there by his side. Because of George telling Lennie where to run if he ever gets in trouble, I predict that Lennie will eventually get in more trouble and have to run there. The question is will he remember and act by himself.
A distinctive character in this novel is George. Although Lennie receives an enormous amount of attention in the book due to his lack of comprehension, George stands out for being a devoted friend. Although he constantly complains about his life with Lennie and seems impatient at times, he doesn’t stray from his foremost purpose of protecting Lennie. Steinbeck reveals how George is a hardened man with a tough exterior, but deep inside it appears as though he needs Lennie just as much as Lennie needs him. “Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don’t belong no place. . . . With us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. We don’t have to sit in no bar room blowin’ in our jack jus’ because we got no place else to go. If them other guys gets in jail they can rot for all anybody gives a damn. But not us.” This quote helps us to understand that although Lennie is the character that is “slow”, George is happy that he has someone to perhaps share the rest of his life; otherwise he would also be lonely. So although Lennie needs help navigating in life, George also needs to fill his void of loneliness, which he does by devoting himself to the welfare of Lennie. He believes in the story of their future and is happy that Lennie shares the same excitement and outcome of their lives together later on.
I find Lennie to be one of the most interesting characters in "Of Mice and Men" so far because he thinks very differently from others. He is always forgetting things and does things an ordinary person his age would never do. When Steinbeck is first introducing Lennie, he uses dialog between Lennie and George, Lennies good friend, to help the reader infer that Lennie is much slower at thinking than George, and is also very forgetful. For example, when Lennie asked George where they were going, George answered, “So you forgot that awready, did you…Might jus’ as well spen all my time tellin’ you things and then you forget ‘em, and I tell you again.” (page 4) Steinbeck also developed the character of Lennie by including the event in which George caught Lennie keeping a dead rat in his pocket. Most people, besides children, would never want to keep a dead rat in their pockets because they think it is disgusting. Lennie said he wanted to keep the rat because he liked how it felt. Lennie is really an innocent harmless guy, but since he is slow he might do things in which he doesn’t mean to. When John Steinbeck describes George, he characterizes George as a more controlling and smarter one between Lennie. He is always looking out for Lennie and tells Lennie what to do. Without George, Lennie would not be able to survive. I predict that Lennie is going to do something that is either wrong or bad, but not intentionally.
John Steinbeck portrays both Lenny and George to be very unique and interesting characters. George is portrayed as a tough guy who may later in the book show his softer side who cares for his best friend Lenny. Steinbeck portrays Lenny as a very interesting character. He is very strong, and a very skilled bucker, but he is not the brightest person. Lenny seams to have mental problems which is very interesting because it shows a big strong man with a child's brain. In my opinion Lenny is the most interesting character that John Steinbeck has introduced in his novel, "Of Mice and Men". it is intriguing how George controls every move Lenny does because Lenny feels that George is all knowing and wise. When Lenny is being beaten up by Curly, Lenny doesnt fight back until George tells him it is alright. Lenny would not be able to survive without George. Lenny also has many little things that calm him down. The way he calms himself is much like how a baby would calm themselves. Lenny needs soft things to soothe him. Instead of blankets and pillows, for babies, Lenny prefers to pet rats, puppies and rabbits. I think that it is intriguing how at first glance, you think Lenny is a big strong jerk, but once you understand him more, you feel as if he is a sweet, slow, child like man.
In the novel "Of Mice and Men", I find Lennie to be the more interesting of the characters. He is characterized as being "a huge man...he walked heavily, dragging his feet...like a bear."(2) Lennie is also mentally disabled and is not very smart. He does not do very well at listening, resulting in himself getting in trouble. When Lennie and George worked in Weed, Lennie got in to a predicament. Lennie observed a woman with a red dress. He just had to feel it, and when he did, he did not let go of it. The woman “let out a squawk” and Lennie just held on. The woman alleged that Lennie was trying raping her. I believe that Lennie is really a good guy, but he is disabled. He acts like a little kid but he is in his 30's. In the 1930's the mentally disabled were considered outcasts. In chapter four, Crooks says that if Lennie did not have George to look up to, he would be sent to a mental house. Lennie has a fetish for soft things, such as rabbits, puppies and the red dress. I foreshadow that Lennie is going to try to feel something soft in the upcoming chapters. After he goes to touch it, he is going to get in trouble and run to the bushes. This is because George told Lennie "if you jus' happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come...an' hide in the brush."(15) In class, we identified this sentence for being foreshadowing. I feel bad for Lennie because he is mentally disabled. He is tricked very easily and he is treated differently. When Crooks was talking to Lennie, he was very jealous of him. He told Lennie "well jus' s'pose he don't come back..."(72) Lennie gets very sad and i thought he was going to cry. He thought that George was never coming back. Another thing is that all Lennie cares about is "tending the rabbits". Lennie has one distinct goal and that is to tend the rabbits. When ever Lennie is scowled by George, his last words are if he is still going to tend the rabbits.
After the first four chapters, I think Lennie is the most interesting character for many reasons. I think that it is interesting because it says on page 2 “Behind him walk his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders.” This shows that Lennie is very bulky and that he is as big as a bear but he is mentally challenged so he acts like a child. He is very dependent on George, so if he was not there he wouldn’t know what to do. This is important to the novel because they get into a lot of trouble because of that. “Well that girl rabbits an’ tells the law she has been raped. The guys in weed start a party to lynch Lennie.” This shows that Lennie is always getting into trouble and George still tries to help him. He acts like a kid because he loves to pet things such as mice. He doesn’t know that mice are like humans so when they bite him he squeezed its head and it dies. Lennie is also an interesting character because he doesn’t remember many things. He always forgets that he should not talk and when he did they lost a job. Lennie does have some positive traits also such as being strong so he can do good work.
John Steineck creates vivid imagery for btoh main characters Lennie, and George. Lennie is very slow, and has an obvious mental problem. He looks to Goerge for leadership, dirrections, and opinions. George and Lennie travel as a team because of this aspect of their relationship. Steinbeck shows Lennie in multiple situations were he is afraid of what George will say or do. He relies on George's guidance in order to "fit in", and not cause trouble. This does not work very well mainly because of Lennie's curiousity and need to touch and feel his surrounding combined with his huge, extremely strong build. Lennie never means to cause trouble or harm but his inability to cordinate his body and realize how strong he is usually wins, and changes something ment to be harmless into something very bad. George is always yelling at Lennie, perhaps because of his frusterating and need to vent it towards some body. He loves Lennie all the same.
Lennie also has a problem with remembering important information, usually critical to his situation. He seems though, to always remember his and George's dream to find a small plot of land to live on. Lennie's dream inside that one, is to tend the rabbits that they will supposable have. Lennie might be so interested in the rabbits because he has killed many small animals before by accident and is thrilled to have George trust him.
I think at this point in the story Lennie is the most interesting of all the characters for several reasons. Although I think that all of the characters are unique in some way there is something very interesting about Lennie that makes him different from the rest of the characters. John Steinbeck describes Lennie as being tall, big and very clumsy. He can be easily distracted, forgetful and sometimes be stupid in some ways. We then learn that he is challenged mentally and has some problems that can’t be fixed. I guess George thinks that he can help and improve Lennie’s life so he tries to build his dream with Lennie. George says “… we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs and-“. This explains what kind of dream they have in mind and how they want to achieve it. Lennie sometimes gets into most of his problems when George is gone or not watching him. The reason for this is because George is sort of like Lennie’s dad. He controls Lennie and feels responsible for him. This just shows how Lennie cant really survive on his own and plays a unique role in the ranch. Each character is different so for example when Curley is talking to Lennie and they get into the fight, you sort of got the impression that he wasn’t sure how to handle himself in front of all these different kind of people. I think this shows that he has trouble adapting to certain things. I predict now that Lennie will get into some kind of major trouble based on his problems. I think this will happen when George isn’t home and he is alone with of the characters such as Curley’s wife.
The character I find most inserting is Lenny. Steinback shown threw many ways Lenny true character. On the outside his very tall, strong, and bear like according to Steinback. But in the inside his more of a child. Lenny is special. His not as mature as his peers are. He likes to touch soft things because they comfort him but sometimes touching soft things causes him and George trouble. For example in weed he touches the women’s dress and gets nervous and grabs on to it. The woman believes she is being raped so the men town goes on a man hunt for him but they don’t find him. This I believe foreshadows something to come in the chapters to come where he finds softness in an item and starts to touch it and the person becomes scared and starts the weed incident all over again. Lenny childish acts get him into a lot of trouble threw out the book so far.
The most interesting character in the novel "Of Mice and Men" is definitely Lennie. In the opening chapters, Lennie is portrayed as a big man: "A huge man...he walked heavily, dragging his feet...like a bear." –page two. Steinbeck reveals this character to be a mentally challenged man who, although he is very big and strong, is also kind and remorseful. Lennie is always sorry for things that he may or may not have done wrong. He might say this because he is so used to George raising his voice at him, so every time somebody raises their voice, Lennie apologizes because he has no clue. Lennie may get into trouble due to his strength and not knowing how much strength he actually has.
Lennie is very forgetful and absent minded. All the time, it seems like he is in his own little world: "So you forgot that awready, did you…Might jus’ as well spen all my time tellin’ you things and then you forget ‘em, and I tell you again." –page four. Lennie might get himself into trouble and forget that George told him to stay away from women after what happened in Weed. Lennie would be nowhere without his buddy George. George helps Lennie with everything and without him, Lennie would be nothing. "Crooks told Lennie ‘well jus' s'pose he don't come back...’" page seventy-two. This worries Lennie and Crooks tries to get him thinking. Then realizes that Lennie is confused and begins to back off. Lennie also looks at George as a role model. George tells Lennie what to do and if George doesn’t, Lennie questions it. "George lay back on the sand and crossed his hands over his head, and Lennie imitated him, raising his head to see whether he were doing it right."
Lennie is also a very fearful character. We, the readers don’t know why he is this way which makes the novel more and more interesting. Everybody has their way of relaxing, and for Lennie, it is soft things. Lennie holds a dead mouse in his pocket to hold and touch while on the road. Most people think that it is dirty and disgusting, which it is. For Lennie, it seems to work. It seems to soothe him. Back in Weed, Lennie is out with George and sees a woman wearing a beautiful, silk, red dress. He goes to feel the dress and the woman screams. Lennie doesn’t seem to know what is really going on. Lennie feels afraid, so he grips tight to that red dress and wont let go, he cannot let go. Lennie and George are forced to leave after Lennie is accused of making a pass at this woman. I think Lennie will forget about this incident and will do something like it again to Curley’s Wife.
In "Of Mice and Men" John Steinbeck portrays the character of Lennie with great imagery as well as incorporating elements of his characting that were harshly discriminated agains in the 1930's, this allows us the reader to consider the differences in how we view mentally disabled people. In the beginning Lennie is portrayed as a tall, muscular guy compared much more towards a bear than anything else. Lennie is mentally disabled which back in the 1930's was greatly looked down upon due to the fact that no one truley understood why they were like that, and therefore discriminated greatly towards them. Lennie is fascinted with soft objects, much like the reason they get to where they are in the book in where Lennie saw a girl's dress that was made of a soft material, so he felt compelled to feel it which ultimatly was looked upon as the hanous crime of rape. George, Lennie's right hand man along with Lennie fled the town of Weed where they had been working to avoid prosecution, knowing that Lennie would be placed in a mental institution for life if not the death penalty for such a crime. This ultimatly brings them to the ranch that they are residents of for most of the book, where all of these elements of the background of George and Lennie's situation comes to the readers attention. This may encompass foreshadowing due to the fact that Lennie finds it difficult to remember things of what and what not to do without the asistance of George. However George cannot be there round the clock to watch Lennie. This I beleive will lead Lennie to a choice he is'nt ready to make and George will not be there for him. In conclusion I think that the fate of their relationship and possibly their lives rests on Lennie's shoulders in their future endevours.
In the novel "Of Mice and Men", the famous novel by John Steinbeck, the most interesting character in my opinion is Lennie. Steinbeck describes him as "a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragged his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws”. “His arms did not swing at his sides, but hung loosely.” The way Steinbeck describes him reminds one of a bear. Lenny reminds me of the Tom Hanks character in the movie “Forest Gump”. He reminds me of Forest because Lennie is the best at bucking barely and Forest was the best at running. Forest runs form coast to coast and Lennie “can put up more barely then any two person group.” They both can do great things but still have mental challenges. The thing that makes Lennie so interesting though is that he is so tall, strong and built, but he is so much like a kid. The way he acts is like a seven year old. Lennie is so sensitive about things. He loves touching soft things. He almost got lynched because he starts to feel a girls dress and she said he raped her. George says “Hell no. He just scared her. I’d be scared to if he grabbed me. But he never hurt her. He just wanted to touch that red dress, like he wants to pet them pups all the time.” All Lennie does all the time is talking about the rabbits. “I’m goin’ to tend the rabbits George.” Even George will threaten Lennie by saying “If you get in trouble you can’t tend the rabbits.”
I find the character of Lenny to be very interesting. The way John Steinbeck describes him makes see a good image of him in your head. Lenny is a big man who has a pale face and shapeless eyes. He has a mental illness and he will do anything anyone tells him to do like for instance George tells him to jump in the river but, Lenny can't swim but Lenny jumps in anyway. Lenny also acts like a child in an adult body. He has a condition where he likes to pet soft things because they comfort him. Like rabbits or mice.
Another interesting character is Crooks. He is a black man who works as a stable buck at the ranch. He is very spiteful towards whites because when he was young he lived on a ranch with his father and use to get along with other white children but when he went to work there was a lot of racism. He is not allowed to even stay in the same bunk room as them. He is very lonely and seems mean to Lenny but then he admits that he isn't that bad. And that he just needs someone to talk to and be with.
I think George is one of the most interesting characters in Of Mice and Men. I believe he is the most interesting because he takes care of Lenny when he could have just left Lenny. George makes sure nothing bad happens to Lenny. On the outside towards other people, he seems cold and arrogant. He speaks about curly so coldly to Candy. On the inside, George is very caring and sensitive. He understands that Lenny is slow and has needs. He promises Lenny that they will their own piece of land that will have chickens, rabbits, goats, and a berry patch. George also promised Lenny that Lenny can tend to the rabbits. George is also very protective over Lenny. The author portrays George very well. He shows how protective, sensitive, and caring George is.
In the novel "Of Mice and Men", i feel that the most interesting character would have to be Lennie. He's not your typical adult man. He's very tall, strong, and some people refer to him as a bear. Lennie is the character in the book that has the hardest time keeping up with things, and handling problems and situations by him self. When this happens, he depends on George. Lennie is a every simple minded and caring person. Lennie is a follower of George. He is inspired to be just like George, Lennie looks up to him. Lennie looks forward to the simple things in life. He is very loving; he loves any small animal he can pet and touch. Even though it may sound weird for a full grown man to do that, but Lennie is different. Lennie might come off as a very strong and terrifying mean, but really he is kind and gentle and means no harm to any one. I think with a personality like Lennie’s, it will be very good for him in the end. I think I can predict him getting into trouble for something, but something he didn’t mean to do. In the end I think Lennie will learn a very reasonable lesson from everything.
Throughout the novel "Of Mice And Men” John Steinback reveals Lennie as a very interesting character. He is described as a simple-minded person who always listens to George. He is pretty unpredictable on the way he displays his actions. For example when he was taking a beating from Curly he doesn’t even try to defend himself until the OK from George. But you would think that the average person in that state would defend themselves and not just stand there. My prediction is that Lennie is going to do something that will have a very large impact on the novel. Also I find it kind of odd how a mature grown man like Lennie loves to feel soft things and he loves bunnies. He seems like a very sensitive man. Honestly, I haven’t begun to figure out Lennie and what he is about. Like i said he is very unpredictable. Lenny is hiding his inner self because George is controlling him; everything he does is because of what George tells him to do.
I find Lenny the most interesting character in "of Mice and Men", he's a tall giant, slow in the head, child like and is completely obedient towards George. Lenny always listens to George because George is a good friend, but more then that because Lenny needs help and George can help Lenny work so he does not get caned. He is also interesting because he always seems to get into trouble wherever he goes and since this always happens I think this is foreshadowing that he is going to get into trouble with Curley's wife and him, and George are going to have to flee but I think that Candy is going to stay and work on the farm to help them earn enough money for the new farm and all the animals.
I find Lennie the most interesting so far in "Of Mice and Men." Steinbeck's imagery of him really gives the reader a picture of Lennie and that he is disabled or slow. We find out through George that Lennie isn't the brightest fellow out their because Steinbeck doesn’t says that he is mental. Lennie is characterized as being "a huge man...he walked heavily, dragging his feet...like a bear." Lennie's mental disability leads to a big conflict in Weed. Lennie has a fetish which in Lennie's case is he has to touch soft things. The conflict was when a little girl was wearing a soft red dress and Lennie went up to her and starting touching it. The girl thought that he was raping her and "Let out a squawk." Lennie got nervous and George had to tell him to let go. The cops were looking for him all day and they had to hide in a ditch alongside the road. Lennie is a real good guy in my opinion but in that time period, People like him with disabilities were considered outcasts. When Candy had to get his dog shot because the other people thought he was useless and no good anymore because he was old, I think that this is foreshadowing what will later happen to Lennie in the book. This is because the dog and Lennie both don’t cause any harm and Lennie like’s soft things, like a dog. I predict that Lennie's disability will lead to another conflict near the end of the book where George tells Lennie if he gets into any trouble he out to go hide in the bushes.” if you jus' happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come...an' hide in the brush."(15) Lennie doesn’t like getting in trouble because then he won’t be able to tend the rabbits and that is Lennie's one goal, he wants to tend the rabbits. I feel bad for a character like Lennie because he treated differently and doesn’t know what is going on like a normal person would. I just hope that nothing happens to Lennie because he is a "Nice fella."
I think that Lennie is the most interesting character at this point. I think this because Lennie is sort of a mystery. When George is around Lennie is quiet and lets George do all the talking, but when it is just Lennie he is very energetic and has a lot to say. Steinbeck reveals that Lennie is not normal and that he isn’t the smartest fellow around. Steinbeck also reveals that Lennie is child-like. Lennie is child-like because he always need something soft to keep him busy. “ ‘ What do you want of a dead mouse anyways?’ ‘I could pet it with my thumb while we walked along.’ “ (Ch.1)In the beginning of the novel, before George and Lennie went to the farm(to work), George said, “ … Well look –Lennie if you jus’ happen to get into trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush.” (Ch.1) I think that this is foreshadowing that some kind of event is going to happen towards the end of the novel, having to do with Lennie and petting soft objects.
So far in the novel "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck, I find that Lennie is the most interesting character. John Steinbeck shows a lot of information about Lennie. We learn that Lennie is not the smartest man around but his size and strength make up for that. John Steinbeck also compared Lennie to a bear on page 2, "A huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws." This description of Lennie gives the readers a good sense of imagery about the character. Lennie is not capable of traveling by himself, because of his mental disability, so he goes with his best friend, and probably his only friend, George who is the complete opposite of Lennie. George is a small, thin, short tempered man. These two men complete each other, neither of them could live without the other. John Steinbeck tells us about Lennie's past in Weed. He supposedly raped a young girl in a red dress. Once he grabs something , he will not let go. After this incident the two find another job and go on with there dream of owning their own house and the most important part that John Steinbeck stresses on is that Lennie can tend the rabbits. This dream was suppose to be only Lennie and George's dream but since Lennie is so forgetful(he isn't suppose to tell anyone) he tells Candy and Crooks about it. We think that later on in the novel, Crooks and Candy will join the two in their dream to live off the fat of the land. There is only one question, what will Lennie do next?
far, my favorite and I think the most interesting character in the novel is Slim. I think Slim is very interesting because he seems understand everything. He understands Lennie and George’s relationship even though he doesn’t have that himself. He doesn’t have a best friend but he still understands why they look out for each other. When Carlson wants to shoot Candy’s dog, Slim understands the relationship Candy has with his pet. A dog is very loyal and these two go everywhere together. Even though one is a dog and the other a person, they have a lot in common. They are both old, disabled, and when Carlson shoots his dog, Candy knows that’s his future. Slim promises candy one of his puppies because maybe he thinks that if Candy has a young and energetic dog, he will want to be with the dog and maybe that will be his future and not dying. Another reason I think Slim is very interesting is that when Lennie crushes Curley’s hand, he protects George and Lennie. He understands that they need this job for maybe George to keep sane around Lennie. I think George needs to be with more than just Lennie all the time. They’re best friends but sometimes you just need a break from responsibility. Slim understands what everyone on the farm is going through even though it hasn’t happened to him himself.
The character I found most interesting would be Lennie and Candy. Lennie is one of my favorite characters because he always thinks of the glass half full. Lennie has a problem and doesn’t remember things quite as sharp as he could. I think he’s a hard worker and doesn’t let his problem stop him from working with George. His motivations is the house and land their going to own, it’s especially motivating to him because he gets to tend the rabbits their going to have. He knows that if he does something bad George won’t let him tend the rabbits. Candy is a lonely man. Candy got his hand caught in a machine and he doesn’t have a hand anymore; it’s just a little stump. Candy had a dog that was old, so Slim and some of the other guys decided they needed to shoot it. Candy had that dog since he was a pup and now is lonely. Candy has joined George and Lennie in there quest for the land they dream of. On page 15 it states “Lennie -- if you jus, happen to get into trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush.” The prediction that I have is that Lennies going to do something and George is not going to want to deal with him anymore. Lennie will have too go live by himself and Candy and George will live on the ranch they’ve dreamed of.
I think that George is the most interesting character so far in the book "Of Mice and Men” he is a small man who has very sharp features and is very aggressive and stubborn. I think that he is very interesting because he is a very intelligent man who I think would do very well in life but since he is with Lennie, who is a little slow he doesn't do too well. I would think that a man who is very uptight like George would have left Lennie, so I think that's interesting how he didn't. Also George always told Lennie to stay out of fights and to not get in trouble, but when Curley is punching Lennie, George tells him to fight back and defend himself, although this could ruin their chances of keeping their job. George can be very loyal and complimentative of Lennie, but he can also be very harsh and call him mean names, so I think it's very interesting how he can say all these wonderful things about Lennie to other people, but to his face he is not always very nice.
I am hoping that later on in the novel that George, Lennie, and Candy all fulfill their dreams of living on the farm and having a vegetable patch, and cows, and pigs, and rabbits, but I feel that something is going to happen and that dream isn't going to work. Most books don't usually end the way you think, or want them to end and that's why I think that their dream is not going to happen.
In the novel, “Of Mice and Men”, the character that I find the most interesting is definitely the very kind Lennie. The reason I think this is that thus far in the novel the author revels that Lennie couldn’t hurt a fly if he tried even though he is this big huge man that at first glace you would be scared of. In other words he is a big friendly giant. Lennie also always listens to his partner no matter what, in any situation and that is very interesting because Lennie is double the size of his friend George. George tells a story to Slim of how George told Lennie to jump into a river and Lennie did even tough he couldn’t swim and after he thanked George for saving him even though George told him to jump in the first place. Also later in the chapters a very pugnacious character named Curly starts to clobber Lennie in the face and although Lennie is getting pounded he waits for George to say it’s ok to fight back and then he breaks Curly’s hand. I find the character of Lennie very interesting because George tells him everything and he can’t really think for himself even though he is capable to. I predict that by the end of the story Lennie does something very bad to Curlys wife so they have to leave and think of new ways to collect money for their dream farm.
After reading this novel in class and for homework I think that Lennie is one of the most interesting character in this novel. Lennie is unique in many ways. He’s a huge man who acts like a child and does whatever his friend George tells him to. Lennie is pretty slow picking up things and forgets very easily. Actually one of the only thing Lennie can remember is his and George’s dream. How he’s going to tend to the rabbits. Even the authors description of Lennie got me more interested in Lennie, “Behind him walk his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders.” This shows that Lennie is a big guy and its pretty funny how he acts like a child. Lennie gets into a lot of trouble because of his mental disability( he doesn’t know any better). “Well that girl rabbits an’ tells the law she has been raped. The guys in weed start a party to lynch Lennie.” This shows that Lennie is always getting into trouble and George still tries to help him.
I find lennie to be the most interesting because he is 30+ and acts like a 7 yr old I find that funny and sad for him the same time. Lenny always listens to George because George is a good friend, but more then that because Lenny needs help and George can help Lenny work without being sent away to the mental place. Lenny could not take care of himself if he did not have George due to the fact he is simple minded and his aunt Clara died the person who was taking care of him.
